The IAA Frankfurt Motor Show today plays host to circus-like manufacturer displays highlighting everything from dynamic test drives to idle racecars. News headlines read of concepts, hybrids, and 880 bhp plug-ins cars boasting acceleration times of 0 to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds and achieving speeds of 211 mph. Times were a bit different during the 1983 IAA Frankfurt Motor Show, when manufacturer’s exhibits spawned grass turf and tan blankets for their displays. In a period where Automotive photographers were still mastering the 3/4 shot we can find many gems. The Porsche 959, BMW M6, and Audi Quattro will always have a pinch of nostalgia for us. *Pictures from the ‘Stars of 1983’ exhibit.
